Ketika kita berbicara tentang asal usul tentang sesuatu marga, suku maupun peradaban, tentu akan banyak perbedaan persepsi dan pendapat yang akan muncul. Begitu pula dengan bahasan pada artikel kali ini. Asal usul Marga Nias memiliki banyak versi. Baik itu versi sejarah geografis, hingga versi legenda atau cerita leluhur pada masa dulu. Menyikapi masalah ini, penulis mencoba mempersempit sudut pandang tentang dasar penulisan artikel ini. Cerita dibawah ini diambil dari versi legenda atau cerita rakyat yang banyak ditulis di buku-buku sejarah Nias. Selamat membaca.
Konon, Lowalangi (Mula Jadi Na Bolon bagi orang Batak)menciptakan langit berlapis Sembilan. Lalu menciptakan pohon kehidupan bernama Tora’a. pohon kehidupan itu berbuah dua buah yang kemudian dierami oleh seekor laba-laba. Lalu lahirlah sepasang dewa dari buah tersebut bernama Tuhamora’anggi Tuhamoraana’a (berjenis kelamin laki-laki) dan Burutiraoangi Burutiraoana’a (berjenis kelamin perempuan). Kedua Dewa ini kemudian menjadi penghuni langit berlapis Sembilan tersebut.
Hombo Batu, Salah satu tradisi di Nias
Teteholi Ana’a adalah nama lapis langit yang terdekat ke bumi. Salah satu keturunan Dewa tersebut bernama Sirao Uwu Zihono atau nama lain Sirao Uwu Zato mendiami langit lapis pertama atau yang paling dekat ke bumi. Sirao ini beristri 3 dan masing – masing istrinya melahirkan 3 anak sehingga total anak Sirao ini ada 9 orang.
Konon, kesembilan anak Sirao ini berselisih memperebutkan tahta penguasa lapis pertama untuk menggantikan ayahnya yang sudah tua. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan itu, Sirao Uwu Zihono melakukan sayembara ketangkasan menari di atas mata Sembilan tombak. Sayembara ini dimenangkan oleh si bungsu, Luo Mewona. Dengan demikian, Luo Mewona menjadi penguasa langit lapis pertama.
Kedelapan abangnya yang kalah beserta seorang anak dari Luo Mewona diturunkan ke Bumi yaitu ke Tano Niha (Tanah Nias) atas kehendak mereka sendiri. Lima dari Sembilan orang tersebut mendarat dengan selamat di bumi dan keempat lainnya mendarat tidak sempurna. Mereka yang mendarat selamat ialah :
1. Hiawalangi Sinada (Hia) turun di Boronadu, kecamatan Gumo dan menjadi leluhur dari marga Telaumbanua, Gulo, Mendofa dan Harefa.
2. Gozo Hela-Hela mendarat di Barat Laut Hilimaziaya, Nias Utara, kecamatan Lahewa sekarang dan menjadi leluhur dari marga : Baeha, Wuruwu, Zendrato dan Lase.
3. Daeli Bagambolangi (Daeli) turun di Tolamera, negeri Idanoi adalah yang menjadi leluhur marga – marga Daeli, Larosa, Zai, dan Hulu.
4. Hulu Borndano (putra sulung Luo Mewona) turun di Laehuwa, Nias Barat Laut dan menjadi leluhur dari marga-marga : Ndruru, Bu’uolo dan Hulu.
5. Silogu (putra sulung Luo Mewona) turun di Nias Timur dan menjadi leluhur dari marga-marga Zebua, Bawo dan Zega.
Empat putra Sirao yang turun tidak wajar adalah :
1. Bauadano Hia karena badannya yang terlalu berat turun ke Tano Niha menembus ke dalam Bumi dan menjelma menjadi ular yang dikenal dengan sebutan Da’o Zanaya Tano Sisagoro (si penadah bumi). Konon jika di bumi terjadi perang dan darah manusia merembes ke bumi, Da’o Zanaya akan sangat marah dan mengguncang bumi dari bawah hingga menimbulkan gempa. Untuk menghentikan gempa bumi itu, orang Nias akan berteriak “BihaTua !” artinya : Sudahlah Nenek, kami tidak akan berperang lagi
2. Gozo Tuhazangarofa ketika turun di bumi tercebur ke sugai dan menjelma menjadi dewa sungai penguasa segala kehidupan di air. Karena itu bila nelayan hendak mencari ikan di sungai atau laut terlebih dahulu mereka berdoa keada Dewa Sungai tersebut.
3. Lakindrolai Sitambalina ketika turun di bumi tertiup oleh angin kencang dan tersangkut di pohon. Dia menjelma menjadi roh penunggu hutan bernama Bela Hogugeu. Karena itu kaum pemburu selalu lebih dahulu menyembah dewa hutan ini sebelum berburu ke hutan.
4. Sofuso Kara mendarat di bukit bebatuan di daerah Laraga sekarang. Sofuso Kara kemudian menjadi leluhur orang – orang berilmu kebal. Demikianlah legenda tersebut dikisahkan. Namun seperti kebanyakan mitos, tentunya terdapat banyak versi lain dari kisah ini. Kalau dilihat dari sejarahnya sendiri, sebenarnya Siraouwu Zihono yang diklaim sebagai Dewa adalah seorang perantau yang datang dari daerah Burma (Thailand). Ia adalah orang pertama yang bermukim di pulau Nias.
